“A Collection of Folk”: live acoustic music in St Giles-in-the-fields, August 31st 2016, London
On Wednesday the 31st of August 2016, from 19:30 to 22:30, in and around the medieval church of St Giles-in-the-fields in Camden, it’s possible to join one of London‘s by now established events: “A Collection of Folk“.
St Giles-in-the-fields church is also known as Church of the Poets, and one of the most famous events to occur there was the baptism of Mary, the daughter of John Milton. The church is home to the annual meeting of the Poetry Society and inside stand two memorials in honour of George Chapman, the translator of Homer. Other figures that have memorials are the politician and poet Andrew Marvell, the sculptor John Flaxman and playwrights James Shirley and Thomas Nabbes.
The hosts of this end-of-august night are the visual artist, performer, sculptress and illustrator Paula Wichall, Chris Tymkow, Paul Hussey, Thomas Pliszka, The Coolness and Omid Jazi.
The Coolness is an Electro Rock Pop group founded in 2007, which features Chaz John Ross, Eddie Lyons and Dave Robinson. Having toured in different places in Europe and America, the group is now established in London and electrify the atmosphere with their scenic presence, unusual outfits and big hair.
Omid Jazi, from Modena in Italy, started being involved in music at six and wrote his first piece on the pianoforte at the age of 13. He recorded his first demo in 1999 and continued with other projects. In Bologna, he set up Water in Face, a power-duo which he fronted playing the guitar and singing his own pieces. In 2011 he was busy with the Wow tour of Verdena, which covered the whole of the nation and its islands. His seventh EP, entitled “Lenea” was recorded in February 2012 and within a year, his first full length album called “Onde Alfa” was recorded and produced at Hot Studio. In 2014 he moved to London and in 2015 Nexus Editions produced “Tooting Bec”, his second album. Chaz John Ross was director of the video for “Anomalia”.

Mercoledì 31 agosto 2016 dalle ore 19:30 alle 22:30, presso l’antica chiesa medievale St Giles-in-the-fields, nel quartiere di Camden, si potrà assistere ad uno degli appuntamenti divenuti ormai una realtà consolidata a Londra: “A Collection of Folk”.
La chiesa di St Giles-in-the-fields è anche conosciuta come la Chiesa dei Poeti e fra gli eventi più celebri legati alla location ricordiamo il battesimo di Mary, la figlia del famoso poeta John Milton. La chiesa è sede dell’incontro annuale della Poetry Society ed al suo interno son dislocati due monumenti in onore di George Chapman, il traduttore di Omero. Altre personalità da ricordare che presentano memoriali sono il politico e poeta Andrew Marvell, lo scultore John Flaxman, ed i drammaturghi James Shirley e Thomas Nabbes.
Gli ospiti di questo fine agosto saranno l’artista visiva, musicista, performer, scrittrice ed illustratrice Paula Wichall, Chris Tymkow, Paul Hussey, Thomas Pliszka, The Coolness ed Omid Jazi.
The Coolness è una band composta da Chaz John Ross, Eddie Lyons e Dave Robinson fondata nel 2007 e di genere Electro Rock Pop. Diversi tour in Europa ed America, la band si è stabilita a Londra investono con i loro abiti insoliti, cappelli ricci ed invasioni di scena elettrizzanti.
Omid Jazi, modenese, si avvicina alla musica dall’età di sei anni, scrive il primo brano all’età di 13 anni, al pianoforte. Incide la prima Demo nel 1999 e continua negli anni con altri progetti. A Bologna, mette in piedi i Water In Face, un power- duo dove si esprime come frontman suonando la chitarra e cantando i brani composti da lui. Il 2011 lo vede impegnato nel Wow-Tour dei Verdena che coprirà tutta la penisola ed isole. Nel febbraio 2012 esce il suo settimo EP “Lenea”, ed a distanza di un anno, il suo primo full‐lenght intitolato “Onde Alfa” registrato e prodotto da lui stesso nel suo Hot Studio. Nel 2014 si trasferisce a Londra e nel 2015 la Nexus Edizioni produce “Tooting Bec”. L’ultimo videoclip “Anomalia” è stato diretto da Chaz John Ross.
